Is Shadowkeep being vaulted? ›

Bungie has said one thing very specifically, they are not vaulting any more expansions going forward.

This includes three of four non-deleted expansions for the game, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and The Witch Queen. Lightfall, the most recent expansion, is still being sold alongside the three subsequent seasons, the third of which we are current in.

Bungie has made the incredible decision of making the Beyond Light and Shadowkeep campaigns permanently free-to-play after the release of The Final Shape on June 4.

A small handful of things have returned, like a couple of the Crucible maps, but generally, the list stands. Bungie has indicated they will bring a few other things back like at least one of the Gambit maps and a couple of the exotic missions for the rotator.

Although Destiny 2 fans must purchase the rest of the content from Beyond Light, the community is relieved that Stasis subclasses will finally be available for all players to use, regardless of the DLC they own.

Upon the release of The Witch Queen expansion in February 2022, Forsaken's campaign and the Tangled Shore destination were removed from the game as part of a developer initiative called the "Destiny Content Vault". Ahead of its removal, Forsaken's campaign was made free-to-play in December 2021.

Beyond is the final mission in the Shadowkeep campaign. Use the Sorrow's Harbor fast travel point and head toward the Scarlet Keep. Activate the banner to begin the last step, Beyond. This mission has you fighting Nightmares from your past and then pressing into the Pyramid to discover its secrets.

With the release of The Witch Queen in February 2022, portions of Forsaken were removed from the game and placed in the Destiny Content Vault; this included the Forsaken campaign and the Tangled Shore destination and its associated activities, but not the Dreaming City or its endgame content.

The DCV contains all destinations and activities from both Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, with the potential for vaulted content to return to the game in the future. In August 2022, it was announced that Destiny 2 expansions would no longer be vaulted.

This one's pretty obvious, as you won't be able to play any of Destiny's main campaign missions (beyond the first one for The Witch Queen and Lightfall) before buying the expansion. This includes Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, and Lightfall – all of the campaigns that are currently available in Destiny 2.

Shadowkeep and Beyond Light campaigns have become free for everyone, forever. Apparently stasis and bounties are now free too.
