New Ash wood armor gives a set bonus to reduce damage from lava, cactus armor has thorns effect, similar to this I think other wood armor types should have a simple set bonuses to make them more interesting.

Pre-Hardmode
Palm Wood armor : Increased mobility while underwater and during rain
Boreal Wood armor : 15% increased movement speed
Ebonwood armor : : Increased jump velocity and reduced fall damage
Shadewood armor :
Slightly increased life regen (+0.75/s)
Rich Mahogany armor : Armor penetration increased by 3Hardmode
Pearlwood armor : 30% increased melee speed, 25% increased whip speed, increased yoyo range, increased movement speed and acceleration.
(55%+ speed in total for whips, glass cannon like old obsidian armor but without summon damage bonus, defense, range or minion slots so it's not as OP but could still be useful in certain builds)

I was going to make them(pre-hardmode ones) biome or class specific but that might force players to switch to those armor when exploring their respective biomes or playing a certain class instead of using platinum armor or whatever they have, making early game mining less useful. That's also why set bonuses aren't too good they're just "nice to have but other armors are better".

Anyway I don't care what bonuses are. I just want set bonuses that aren't +1 defense to make them more interesting and maybe rarely useful in a build, or in a specific situation like how ash wood is useful in GFB, so post if you have better set bonus ideas

I think Ebonwood should have the Jump Velocity, Shadewood should have the Regeneration, and Jungle wood should have the Pentration. This is mostly so the evil wood types give a taste for what their ore sets will be.

Makes more sense, 'regen' is crimson's thing with life drain and panic neckless.
I'll change them

I've given my thoughts on this matter before, but I'm opposed to set bonuses for wood armor. They're supposed to be the most barebones, simple, and least viable armors at any point in the game. The only reason Ash Wood Armor has a set bonus is because you get it past the point where set bonuses are expected to have been established. The best wood armor, which is Pearlwood, is a Hardmode armor set, and still only gives 8 defense, which is worse than Iron armor.

Now, I will say that Pearlwood armor could have a set bonus, but I think it definitely should not be combat related. The best idea I've seen for it was for it to be a build speed upgrade, because that's outside progression and there is no armor set that currently does that.

Regular wood armor stays barbaric for that role. I'm only suggesting to other wood types, I don't see a reason why wood from a literal evil biome or a jungle with too much life shouldn't have more effect than just acting like a barebone set. specially considering how something like an armor made of pumpkin has 10%+ damage.

These bonuses wouldn't be any different than going to desert for slightly better cactus armor.

I don't think build speed. range, painting buffs or any building related effects should be added to Perlwood armor. otherwise that would force players to wear it while building because even +1 range is really helpful, imagine endgame players getting one shotted by wraths while building a tower or something.

if devs want to buff building they should find another way like buffing one of the building accessories
