Does Chapstick count as a liquid TSA?
There are no TSA restrictions on Chapstick. Even though it smears and spreads onto the lips, Chapstick is not considered a liquid by the TSA. You can just toss your chapstick in your carryon bag or checked luggage. Bon voyage!
You are permitted to bring solid cosmetics and personal hygiene items as such lipstick, lip balm and similar solids. Please remember these items must be solid and not liquid, gel or aerosol. Only the items mentioned above are permitted in your carry-on bags.
Lipsticks, lip balms and stick deodorants are not classed as liquids. Always check in any liquid over 100ml and if you're unsure whether an item will be allowed through, please always check it in with your hold luggage.
You will also need to restrict your liquid foundation. Mascara, lip gels and liquid eyeliner are the three most commonly restricted make-up items. Chapstick's, powders and solid make up items such as solid lipstick and foundation sticks, don't have any restrictions on them.
The guideline says: containers should be 3.4 ounce or less, inside 1 clear, quart-sized bag, and only 1 of these bags in your carry-on luggage.
Traveling with cleaning or disinfecting #wipes? Pre-moistened wipes are allowed in carry-on luggage. They do not need to be placed in your travel-size liquids bag.
Mascara is considered a liquid, as is anything deemed 'spreadable. ' Also keep in mind that sharp objects, like razors, might be subject to restrictions.
Liquid Make-Up Products In Hand Luggage
In carry-on bags, liquid products such as concealer, foundation, cream, or lotion will have to follow the TSA's 3-1-1 liquid rule. Put your product in 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or smaller containers.
Liquids must be placed in containers no larger than 100ml. These containers must be placed in a clear, resealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 litre.
Stick deodorant is fine in any size. Well, almost any size… Powders and crystals are good to go as well. Spray, Gel, Liquid, Cream, Pastes, and Roll-On deodorants need to be in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces and placed in a clear quart-sized baggie.
How many 3 oz bottles can I take on a plane?
If you're wondering, “how many 3oz bottles can I carry on a plane,” the answer is approximately seven or eight. Any more, and you won't be able to seal the bag with the containers inside. In terms of how many liquid ounces can be taken on a plane, this translates to approximately 25 liquid ounces.
Aerosols and roll on deodorants are classed as liquids, so any containers larger than 100ml will need to go in your luggage in the hold. Containers smaller than 100ml are accepted if in a clear plastic bag.

Makeup in a solid or powder form is allowed in carry-on and checked bags with no quantity or size limitations. However, when packed in carry-on bags, makeup in a liquid, lotion, gel, paste or creamy form, must be in containers that are 3.4 ounces or less.
You are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.
Lipstick, lip balm, gel or gloss: 100 ml (3.4 oz.) or smaller container permitted in carry-on. Solid lipsticks in carry-on baggage are not subject to the size/volume restrictions.
Replace aerosol sprays and removers with wipes
Plus they don't count as a liquid! Deodorant sprays and makeup removers can easily be replaced with baby or face wipes, which are not counted as a liquid.
Wet wipes are considered a non-liquid item, so they do not fall under the TSA's 3-1-1 rule, which limits the amount of liquids, gels, and aerosols that can be brought in carry-on luggage.
In fact, Clorox wipes are allowed on carry-on bags, no matter how much the person is carrying. There are strict rules regarding the amount of liquid you could bring on planes, but this does not apply to Clorox wipes, even though they are soaked in disinfectant liquid.
Do creams, like concealer and lipstick still count as liquid? And what about lotions and gels? Unfortunately, it's not great news for the over-packers. The Department for Transport defines liquids as “including creams, lotions, oils, perfume, mascara and lip gloss”.
You must put your cosmetic products in a clear plastic resealable bag.
Can I put my makeup bag in my purse on a plane?
Following the regulations, most airlines and airports allow passengers to bring small amounts of liquid, gel, or cream cosmetics in containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres). Please, also keep in mind that all of these items must fit inside a single quart-sized clear plastic bag.
According to TSA guidelines, any substance that is free-flowing or viscous is considered a liquid, including liquids, aerosols, pastes, creams, and gels.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) states that tweezers are allowed in both carry-on bags and checked bags. They request that anything sharp, including tweezers, be well-wrapped to ensure it can't cause any injuries. See what the United States TSA says about bringing tweezers on a plane here.
Electric razors and razors that have the blade set into a plastic moulding are permitted in carry-on baggage. Razor blades and razors that can be opened and the razor blade removed are permitted in checked baggage only.
Do you still have to put liquids in plastic bags in 2023? Yes, the rule about the bags is still a thing, but the TSA actually doesn't specify whether that bag needs to be clear. Still, a clear plastic bag will certainly make things easier for your TSA agent and help you get through security faster.
